finder connect to server command not working?

2015 Retina 4K iMac. Monterey. 8GB RAM. Crucial 500GB external SSD
never tried it before. maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Im trying to ftp to my site.

ftp.mysite.com

don't seem to work. I click connect and nothing happens.

Im using 10.4.11 tiger.

any ideas?
