Feature to turn off automatic updates for IOS releases

Hi there,

Does anyone of a feature that turns off automatic updates for IOS releases? I know how to turn off automatic updates for app updates but wanted to know whether this was possible to do in the current version of IOS.

As member "mrplow" stated, updates to iOS are not automatic. If you no longer wish to update your current version of iOS, then don't select "update". If you're referring to something else, please explain further.

Thank for getting back to me on my forum thread, really much appreciate your help very much. With regards to IOS updates, does the IOS obtain it's updates when the device is connected to the Wi-Fi if they exceed over 500MB and download in the background?

It sounds like you're concerned with data usage when downloading updates for iOS? It's best to either download the update to your iPhone when it's attached to your Mac or on WiFi. Probably best when attached to your Mac so that your battery does not give out in the middle of an update.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner but as well as what you said a couple of days ago I am more concerned that if Apple release another IOS update in the near future that it might cause more problems than the previous IOS release which is why I asked whether there is a feature to prevent future IOS updates from being automatically downloaded onto the IOS device using wi-fi if the IOS update is more than 500MB and on mobile data if the IOS update is less than 500MB, otherwise there will be an IOS update taking up quite a bit of storage space if not wanted as 500MB+ is quite a big portion of the storage space on an IOS device. The data usage issue isn't much of a concern for me in comparison to some people who have IOS devices as I get 4GB a month on Vodafone. Lastly I was aware you could get IOS devices via MAC or PC through iTunes as well as on the wi-fi.

iOS updates will only download on wifi. They will not download over 3G/4G.
You can't stop the auto download but but it won't install automatically.

You're right there, it only installs when the user initiates it but shame there is no way of preventing this when being to connected to wi-fi even if the user hasn't requested for the update in which it automatically downloads in the background on to the user's IOS device and can take up to 500MB+ of the user's IOS device's storage space.
