It's an external hardrive right? Lol, i know, i'm a noob. If that's really what it is, will it work on a macbook? 320gb for $90 seems like a heck of a deal...

that's an internal harddrive, you'd need to buy an external case for it.

it should be compatable just have to format it with HFS or FAT32 to set it up. No you cannot put it inside the macbook as it's not a notebook harddrive. So yeah you would have to buy a case for it with a USB or firewire output.
