I am looking at external hard drives to purchase. 1TB for storage.

I am running:
Mac OS10.1.11
Processor: 1GB Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 2GHz 677MHz DDR2 SDRAM

Any suggestions?

Anything will work, really. If you can find one that supports FireWire, it'll be FAR faster than USB. You can use any external disk, even if it says it's "for Windows," because you can re-format it on your Macintosh. Just go for the best balance of size and price and you should do great!

G'day and welcome to the forums.

Take it you do mean OS X.4.11?

As Jamie advises a Firewire drive, and Firewire 800 at that, will be the go and all leading brands are pretty reliable. If purchasing new look for the five year warranty such as Seagate and Western Digital. When set up, partition the drive GUID in Disk Utility using as many, or as few, partitions as you wish.
