Hi all,
I formatted my external HD in exFAT, so I can use it on PC and MAC, but, when I was copying my files on it, I discovered that exFAT is case-sensitive under OSX.
Do you know if there is a way to have exFAT case-insensitive? I am afraid I already know the answer...
Thanks a lot

While I know there are a few here using exFAT, personally, have to recommend using NTFS on drives being shared with Windows and spend the $20 for Paragon's NTFS for Mac driver.

Hi bobtomay,
thanks for the answer.
I was thinking the same, but I don't like so much use third-party software, but if it is the only solution...

Does anyone know why it is case-sensitive?

I've not used exFAT since it's a non-journaled file system. Best I could find, it's due to Apple's implementation of the standard. exFat, while not case sensitive, recognizes caps. Most of those having issues with this appear to be those attempting to store applications on exFAT volumes. It's probably not an issue for storing other data (movies, music, etc.).

Rather than third party software have always used two hard drives, one HFS for OS X and one NTFS for Windows 7. Hard drives are pretty cheap and no probems with partitions.
