Hey everyone, I know that we have a large mass of WOW players, EQ2 players, and L2 players here. Does anyone play Eve? I'm all over the "fly around in space and blow things up/spend 999 hours mining" kind of idea.

Unfortunately it does cost money. $15/month I believe. There is a 14 day trial at their site however.

But the pirates of eve is a bit more fun. I play and love it. It's really time intensive and to get to a decent PVP ship it may take about a month or so. The skills upgrade in real time. If it says it takes 6 days to train a skill, it takes 144 hours and trains regardless of being logged in or not. There's massive amounts of space to explore. It has a steep learning curve but it's fun.

Apparently a mac and linux client will be released this summer. This doesn't really affect me, I think that my macbook's lack of a video card kind of turns me off from playing real games on it.

EVE is an amazing game, with a big monitor. I can play it on my 15" MBP, but with the screen res being what it is, it makes it difficult to play. There's a lot on the screen and a lot going on, so if you don't have the realestate to set you boxes just right, it gets really cluttered and gives you a very small viewing area.

I play it on my 17" Dell notebook just fine, but that has a max res of 1920x1200.

Id quite like to try it, but wouldnt really want to invest the massive amounts of time it appears to take.

I used to play EVE quite regularly, but it started taking too much of my time. It's one of those games where you can't sit down and play for half an hour- you've got to spend 2 or 3 hours per sitting in order to accomplish anything.

The universe is huge, very fun to play.
