Help Please
I installed Jaguar 2.0 on my g3 snow lap top. For some reason it would not take the 2.8 combo upgrade (packages could not be installed) So I have been doing it peice by peice. Everything was fine until the 2.5 combo. Now I cannot get a log on screen. The machine boots but goes blue forever and no log on screen appears.
I have started in single user to try and trash my preference file, but it says root is read only and will not take the mount command (sbin/mount -wu/). I have repaired permissions several times from my original Jaguar install cd, but it still will not give a log on screen.
If I start in the safe mode, I can see a crash message, but again, it will not accept any commands.
Is there anything I can do short of reinstalling the original and starting this whole process again?
Thank you for your help, I have been messing with this for days.
