After changing screens my macbook has became unresponsive, slow and the fans are going crazy. I ran a diagnosis and got the codes PFM006 & PPN001. I've tried to reset the SMC and there is no obvious signs of water damage (as other posts suggest).

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to our forums.

Where did you have the screen changed or did you do it yourself? And please provide us with specs regarding your MacBook.

Year? Model?

And, did you look up the codes you received when running the diags?

Thanks for replying!

It's a macbook pro 2018 touch bar model with a 13" screen (A1989). I changed the screen myself.

I have ran a diagnostics and got error codes PFM006 and PPN001. TG Pro says there is a problem with an unkown temperature sensor.

I reattached the broken screen and the problem persists.

It doesn't seem like I've damaged anything on the logic board an I was very careful but I am very new to repairing macs.

Okay, thanks for the info.

Here's what I know in my limited experience with these late model MacBook Pros with the touch bar:

Your model MacBook Pro contains the Apple T2 security chip. Whenever you work on that model (change screen, keyboard, etc) my understanding is that the T2 security chip must be reset.

Take a look at this and then get back to us:

I have tried an SMC reset but each time I'm not sure if it has even worked.

If you followed the procedure from the directions, then there may be something else wrong and not necessarily the T2 chip security lock.

I remember reading about someone else who changed the screen on his MacBook Pro and encountered the same problem as you.... fans running full speed and the machine unresponsive. I don't remember exactly what caused the problem but do remember that something was not connected correctly or damaged during the screen replacement.

Go back over your work if you have not already done so and maybe following step by step the instructions for changing the screen at iFixit: The Free Repair Manual.
