emptying trash

i have a MB unibody 250g hdd 2g ram,

got a message to say start up disk full, how do i free space in the start up disk?

also when i try to empty thrash it only gives me an option to "secure" trash , were does it go??? when its "secure" ??

any help is most appreciated

thanks guys you think you know a bit, then apple just confuse you!!!

also i must add that i cant get rid of anything from my trash, which is taking up huge space on my hdd??

Do you mean a message like this?

"Secure Empty Trash permanently erases the items in the Trash. Are you sure you want to permanently erase them?"

Just do it.

secure erase writes ones and zero over the data that is to be removed, whereas the plain erase just remove the location of the data from the index table.
