After updating to OS x 10.10.3 and the new Photos app, I can not email Photos from the Photos app. I select the photo(s) I want to email, click the Share icon and the list of options includes "mail" but it is not selectable (greyed out). I use ThunderBird as my mail client which works well with iPhoto but I can find no way to get Photos to allow me email.

Very distraught. Please help.

I have the same issue.I use Unibox as my email client and now wonder if the new app only works if you have the Mail app as your default client. If so,this is really annoying! I hate the Mail app and spent ages looking for a substitute ,found a great alternative and now can't use it to send photos from the new photos app??

So,I closed Unibox, opened Mail and made it the default. Now in Photos I can see the option to email through Mail. So unless you use the native Mail app you can't email photos?Don't think this is right at all.:Grimmace:

Thanks. What I suspected. I don't like Mail and love Thunderbird. Hope Apple fixes this soon.

What's all the fuss about? If you want to continue using Thunderbird or another email client to email photos, just continue to use iPhoto instead of the new Photos app. iPhoto is still there in your Application folder unless you deleted it.
