I use Dell's Netextender VPN client on my Mac almost on a daily basis. After upgrading to El Capitan from Yosemite, it no longer works. Does anyone else use Netextender? I will have to revert back to Yosemite if I can't get this fixed in the next couple of days.

Check if an update to your VPN software is available. If not, you'll have to ping them about support for El Cap. Its hard to imagine that software that works with Yosemite would fail with El Cap which is more of a refinement release of OS X rather than a dramatic shift of the underlying OS.

same issue here. I get a message that NetExtender needs to do some maintenance, enter my mac password...and it wont log in. It's not a total deal breaker for me but is going to be a pain to work around

Yep, that's the same message I get and then it won't log in. I use Netextender almost daily for work so this is unfortunately a deal breaker for me. El Capitan also broke the slingbox apps in Safari, Chrome and Firefox. That's not a big deal to me but the Netextender is. I have only owned a mac for a few months but are issues like this common after a OS upgrade? I really don't have much software installed yet since I got the MacBook pro but it's concerning to me that I have two programs that are not working. I guess I should have waited awhile before I installed it but as a new Mac user I got excited about upgrading.

however...if you download Sonicwall mobile connect from the app store...you can use that instead. works for me

A bit of googling advises it's a permissions issue that can be resolved with a re-install of NetExtender but I can't find the download page to download it again

I have uninstalled and re-installed twice and it still doesn't work. I guess I will try the mobile connect.

As far as downloading Netextender, Dell seems to make it very difficult. I have a sonicwall account with work so I just login to mysonicwall.com and there is a section on free downloads. You can download it from there if you have an account.

Looks like El Capitan did nothing. The developers of your software need to get cracking and fix their problems. Email them

Thanks for this. I downloaded Sonicwall mobile and it is working. Hopefully Dell will update Netextender soon to work with El Capitan.

got the same issue here with a director. Too quick to update the OS.

Anyone heard anything from Dell regarding this. Is it just a case of waiting for a NetXtender update. Ill try to get him on the workaround app...

Since Keynote, Developers were adviced that system files are restricted at El Capitan. I'm still trying to get netExtender work since I have updated OS X.

The following worked for me to get around the NetExtender issue - http://stackoverflow.com/a/32910408. Once SIP is disabled run NetExtender and let it do it's updates. You can then enable SIP and NetExtender should work as usual.

Hello friends?

Any of you have been able to get NetExtender going with El Capitan?

Actually, lots of programs that have to work deep within the system are partially or completely broken in El Capitan, because Apple has -- as it often does -- made changes to the kernel, deprecated some "cheats" and old services that developers knew better than to use and used anyway (because lazy), and otherwise took away or changed some things under the hood. Devices that rely on Firewire drivers, certain audio plug-ins, programs that relied on AirPlay hacks, and most notably Microsoft Office have been affected by this. Some of it is down to the introduction of System Integrity Protection (SIP), some not.
