My screen is experiencing this issue. It doesn't really bother me much but I can see where people would find this to be a very big issue, especially if you produce graphics on your PB.

This link will tell you if your screen is or isn't experiencing this.

From what I've read I'd be surprised to hear from someone who isn't.

This link has some more good info and pics of the problem.

I wanted to post this and see if anyone isn't having this anomoly with their new high rez PB.

My 15" is on the way. I just hope it's a firmware issue, so that maybe Apple could update it from their server, rather than me having to take it to an Apple store...

I looked at the 15"s at Compusa and couldn't see any lines, so I'm not too worried.

I assume you didn't look at the first link I posted on those PBs'?

It's not something many people will notice until it's pointed out to them. I was unsure about my PB until I brought up that crankycat link. The images in that link clearly point out the issue.

I too hope it's just a firmware update. The first step is getting Apple to admit something is wrong. It makes you wonder if they're even doing anything about it or if they're just going to pretend it's not an issue.

If I can't tell that they are there until I look at a specific picture, I wouldn't say that that's a huge problem. If under normal activity you can see lines, that's a huge problem.

I think the severity varies from one unit to another. I may not have ever noticed it but once it was pointed out I certainly can notice it in certain places. Especially on items in the dock.

I got my 15" Powerbook today and it does have the lines.

I can't complain about it though, because I didn't notice it until I did "the test".

Hi

Just to let you know I recieved my new 15" Powerbook today and it also has the horizontal lines. I'm gonna keep hold of it until apple decide there is an issue and run a replacement screen program.

ahh well, other than that i have a beautiful laptop

It's looking more and more like this is just going to get glazed over with the Intel PowerBooks (possibly) close at hand. If these models only sell for three months, they don't have to deal with it, so they may think.

I went to the Apple Centre where I had previously worked today, and they had a new PowerBook 15" on show; with the 1440x900 display.

Not that I particularly studied with my nose against the screen, but I could not see any lines as described. That said, the resolution looks ideal for that size of screen, better than the 1280x854 IMHO.

I expect the 17" at 1680x1050 looks simarly sweet but size wise, the PB 15" is as big as I could ever cope with. That said typing on it reminded me how this keyboard felt when it was new! It still feels good but it's discernably bedded in to my continual typing :flower:
