Hi everyone,

I am interested in switching, but I am in highschool, A senior, and I am going to be applying to college within the next few months. If I were to by from the educational store before I get accepted somewhere (because I'd like to get one before christmas), would I get in trouble? I mean I practically qualify as it is... I am also a 13 year trained musician, and I don't think I am going to have too much trouble getting into at least one of my colleges, and I'll definatly be using it for college.

If they really care that much I could wait until february or even march when I am accepted somewhere.

Thanks

You are not eligible and cannot use the Apple Educational discount as a high school student. The discount is for college students. You are required to have a valid student ID for a college (or other proof of enrollment in a college) in order to get the discount, and yes despite what others may say, they do check.

Well, the apple website offers the discount to my high school, so they might have it for yours.

Not totally true. Some high schools have discounts through Apple, but he has to check that himself. Also, you only have to be "accepted" not enrolled necessarily, to a qualifying institution to receive the student discount. Apple does check on its own, as I did not have to submit any proof I was a student but they do indeed check to see if a student has been accepted or is currently enrolled.

You can also look at refurbs which are discounted as much as a "new" product with the student discount, sometimes about $50 cheaper too versus a student discount. Of course I prefer to eat the $50 and buy a new but that's just another option for you.

To high schools, not high school students.

You may be able to purchase from the store, but you'd be violating the educational purchasing agreement. You'd probably be better off buying from an online retailer that doesn't charge sales tax, and taking advantage of rebate deals.
