I have a PDF file with a image that i got from scanning to my email. I need to edit this image(change the wording on the image, and put a picture on top of it). in windows their is paint brush. anything similar for my new macbook pro?

I do all that kind of stuff using Adobe Elements 8. There are various utilities that will put text on a picture (Skitch, for example) but to put an image on an image you need layers, and an application like Elements is required. If you object to buying Elements, you could look at the free editor, Gimp, which will certainly do what you want. It isn't as nice or easy to use as Elements, however.
