Perhaps this isn't a good thread for the Switchers section, but my guess is that the problem is my inexperience, so I'm putting it here. :headphone

I have a new 15" MacBook Pro, by the way.

The problem is that when I put a DVD in the drive, it does its usual spin up, and the Apple DVD Player program starts. That's it, though. There is no desktop icon for the disc (I'm not sure whether there should be one for a DVD; should there?) and it doesn't play. When I click play in DVD Player, it tells me I don't have a support disc.

Do I have a bad DVD? I have tried with a few discs... Do I have to mount the disc or something?

Thanks,
Mike

EDIT: The problem seems to have resolved itself. I restarted the MBP and the next time I tried to play the disc it asked for a region code, and now it works great.

Sounds like it was to do with the options you selected in the initial setup.
