I already use Araxis Find Duplicate Files and Photosweeper to find exact and close duplicates but these look at file contents. I'm after something that works in a similar manner but for file names only. Something that finds duplicates with exactly the same name would be a useful start. Ideally though a means of finding close matches of file names would be great. For example, the identification of files named 'John Smith (1877) - 1901 Census.jpg' and 'SMITH, John (b1897) - Census - 1901.jpg' as potential duplicates.

Any ideas or recommendations?

Thanks Patrick. Unfortunately, EasyFind, unless I've missed something, requires that you enter a search field and I'm looking for something that identifies potential duplicates irrespective of a specific search word. FindAnyFile appears to work in the same manner.

ToMACash - Dupe Guru does the job brilliantly. Many thanks, I'd never have found it without your link.

dupeGuru sounds like another good useful utility to add to one's arsenal.

And some good reviews as well, and the price is sure right:
