Duplicate file cleaner??

Mac mini 2.4, wife: iPad 16gb & iphone 3Gs, me: Macbook 2.6 & iphone 3Gs
pretty much as the title says.
I have a really bad habit of scattering files all over the place, leading to some hefty loss of space.

are there any free apps to track down these errant files so I can sort out my imac?

I use TidyUp - great in that it does not just search on file names but you can search on content too - great for finding duplicate downloads.
