Dual 2GHz Power Mac G5 by the numbers
October 6, 2003 - 11:08 EDT ComputerWorld has posted several real world tests and numbers for the dual 2GHz Power Mac G5, including startup and reboot times, launch times for several applications and the times needed to process a variety of tasks. "It's clear from two weeks of testing that Apple's new Power Mac G5 dual 2-GHz machine is the fastest thing the company has ever produced. And while you can debate benchmarks until eternity, it certainly appears poised to meet or beat anything now out on the Windows side."

My Comments: Oh yeah baby! I should get one of these, but I swore I would never get another desktop! I guess ill have to wait!

i did my own benchmark test in the apple store on the G5 .... i opened Application folder, selected everything in it (Command+a), then opened everything (command+ o ). it lagged for only a second, but thats prolly cause IE came up with a gazillion messages on how to get started on browsing the internet. my iMac definitely cant do that without the beachball going off

it really is a dream machine.... last night i was converting a dvd (secondhand lions) in dvd2onex, burning a dvd (lord of the rings), importing a 8 gig file (o brother, where art thou?) from another hard drive over firewire, and watching a video (phone booth) stored on my hard drive... everything finished on time, no lag.. its so purdy... with moves like this, i cant wait until apple owns 50% of the market and bill gates is sitting there, scratching his head

*edit* and i only have 512mb of ram :-\ lol i wish it was more :(
