Downloading Yoesmite, Error message, download failed like six times now, Help

I have Mac OSX 10.9.5, Mavericks, Mac is mid 2007 , 4 GB memory, have tried to download Yoesmite six times, always fails near end, about 2 hours left, download speed 3.42 MBPS, slow sped on Comcast, took 14 hours for Mavericks, Changes the DNS from 75 to 8, still no go. Any ideas or should I just forget it. ?

Is that on WiFi or on Ethernet ?
If WiFi, try Ethernet.
I don't understand the " ... DNS from 75 to 8 ..... " thing so I can't comment.

Connected from Modem through router, will connect direct to modem, see if that works better.
The DNS was suggested by another person, in network settings go to advanced, go to dns and change it from 7.75.75.75 to 8.8.8.8, I tried that both ays nothing.
Thanks will give that a shot.
