I haven't checked recently but in some earlier versions of the OS using the Terminal commands resulted in drive/data corruption. Same goes with most of the free/shareware option some of which have not been updated in some time. If you only need to read NTFS drives on the Mac you don't need to make any changes OS x does that right out of the box. The change only needs to be made icy uo need write access to NTFS drives on the Mac.</blockquote>
