Does your AC adapter sparkle?

Hi, I was wondering whether this was a common thing or not. I live in the UK so I have the 3-plug AC adapter for my iBook, which I got last December. Sometimes when I plug my adapter into a mains socket, the metal prongs give a small electrical sparkle as it's going in. It's not big enough to hurt anyone or something but I'm just worried about whether there might be something wrong with my plug. It has happened in various main sockets around the house so I doubt it's the sockets. I have never had any problems regarding power before as well and other than the occasional 'sparkle', everything is fine. It started probably about a few weeks after I got my iBook and everything looks perfect when you look at it. It happens about 3-4 times a week (I do plug my iBook into the mains like once or twice a day as I'm sitting at the desk or on my bed). So anyone ever come across this before and should it be something that I should worry about in the long-term?

happens to me on occasion too (in the US). better way to describe it is that it sparks, but anyway. i dont think there is really anything wrong with your adapter, maybe there is just a lot of static around...do you notice yourself getting shocked by doorknobs a lot?

edit: yea...the static was just a guess.

static has nothing to do with it. you are plugging in you adapter and when you get it in, there is a tiny enough gap to cause teh electricity to jump to the contact. this can be caused by a worn outlet or you are inserting the adapter into the outlet at some weird angle that causes this. mine does it to on occasion

the sparkles occur for a lot of things that I plug in, so i dont think it's an apple only issue.

edit: i'm in canada

Yeah it's usually the outlet like was mentioned above.. it really doesnt have anything to do with the adapter.

I sometimes will get a fireworks show also, but only when it goes into the extension cord. Just place the adapter swiftly and quickly into the sockets. Whenever I do it slowly, I get a front row seat to an early 4th of July fireworks bonanza.
