Beginning yesterday, I can't open my pdf documents and jpeg docs, I have a box that tells me that I don't have authorization, suggesting me to go to Information for the document and settle it. Going there, I can't see what I should do to change it. Any Suggestions?

Hello - with just 2 posts, I was going to welcome you to the forum but saw that you've been a member since 2008 - why are you ignoring us? ;)

But for starters you really need to provide a lot more information: 1) What Apple computer are you now using (model/year); 2) What OS X is installed; 3) What changed yesterday when this issue started (e.g. new software, OS upgrade, etc.); and 4) What have you tried so far? May help us - Dave :)

Hello, I don't really have much time to use my computer. I'll be retired soon, then I will be more able to use it and communicate more with forums.
As for my computer, it is a MacBook Pro bought new in July this year. with OSX 10.9.4

For no particular reason, as always I opened a pdf document, but it wouldn't open.
Came a dialog box that said I had no authorization to open the document and I should go to the finder and open the info window for that document and settle it there. I had the read and write on for that document
andI don't know what to do with this. Any idea?

Thank You,

Regards,

ozark4

P.S. It is the same for jpeg docs.

Hi again and thanks for the information - just a couple of more questions: 1) Does this happen w/ all of your PDFs & JPEGs now or just a few; 2) What app are you using to try to open the files (I'm assuming Finder); and 3) Has your login or users information changed recently?

If you have another 'User' (go into System Preferences -> Users & Group) on your computer, try logging into the other account to see if the same problem exists; if not, you could define a new 'user' - just trying to see if this is a user issue and related to your permissions - could go further but please respond to the questions raised. Dave :) P.S. also assume that you've tried a re-boot?
