Hi,

I just somehow removed safari from my dock and went into applications to put it back. I copied it to my desktop and put it back on my dock but now i NEED to keep the copy on my desktop. How do you have safari on your dock without having the copy always visible?

Ok, if there is still a copy of Safari in your Applications folder you've just created a new copy of the application, so when you added it to the dock it's opening the one on the desktop.

Quit Safari. Remove the desktop copy, and drag the icon off the dock (it should vanish), then go to the Applications folder and drag Safari directly to the Dock. The dock icon will now link to it.

did you copy it to the desktop, or did you move it? you probably moved it... if so, move it back to the applications folder, and then drag it to the dock.
