Do you think this was a good deal for a powerbook?

I decided to get the older model of the Powerbook (1.5ghz) and bought this one off of ebay.

Do you think this was a good buy??

Well, to be totally and brutally honest, it was a good deal but not an awesome, unheard-of deal. Mac of All Trades recently had the same machine available for $1300 even with free shipping AND it came with over a year and a half of AppleCare coverage remaining. Similar deals are available on Ebay for around $1300 even, especially if you're willing to wait for the right deal and use sniping software. But for an extra $100 over those deals, you certainly didn't do badly. That machine is being sold in some places for as much as $1699, so you've still saved a significant amount!

Unheard of

Just because I'm still coming to grips with this myself, I want to tell you of the deal of the century... or maybe not, who knows. The powerbook I have (specs to the left) was bought just a week and a half ago for $850 CANADIAN.
I spent a solid month looking for deals, just goes to show you persistence pays off.

The only issue I had was that it's warranty expired in october so I can't get applecare. But the thing is in incredible condition, it looks brand new, no wear on the keyboard or anything. I really think I hit the jackpot... It was a local buy on a classifieds website, so there aren't anymore out there :)

but like I said, I think it was mostly luck, I happened to see the ad just a half hour after it was posted. The guy told me he was getting piles of email from people about the powerbook even AFTER he marked it sold. I don't know if that guy was an angel or what, but things certainly seemed to stack in my favour.

Obsession has its benefits.

Probably in better condition than my PowerBook that is only 4 months old! I do look after it but it has an annoying tendency to slide off my bed!

That said it's still in pretty darn sharp condition and no scratches, just a very well typed on keyboard!

$850 CDN though, awesome deal!

Thanks for stealing my thunder criticular!!! J/K!! The one I bought might have a few scratches on it, but I still think I got a good deal overall. I didn't want to wait and find one, I needed one now cause I got rid of my windows laptop and needed the powerbook for work. It will be here tomorrow and it will make a nice companion to my 20" iMac G5.

I agree, yours was a good deal too, a price I'd be happy to have paid for sure.

Anyway, ssssh -- you're making me want to buy a 15" PBook in the future :flower:

Though nothing will make me part with my 12" PBook baby!
