I have already installed this update on my MacBook, but after reading this thread I made sure that my printer and such was working correctly. Seems like everything is ok, but I was worried.

i have just updated and mine intel imac and ibook g4 are perfect. and i have a 320gb firewire hd atached to the imac and no problems.

I unplug the firewire devices but don't quit apps, restart twice or repair permissions, anything like that.
