Hello!

They do, don't they? I'd be surprised if not. Just that was running an External HDD through USB and it was sooooo slow. Took over an hour to copy about 2-3 gigs from my internal HDD over to the external. I may be exaggerating a bit. can't reember exactly as it was 2 nights ago - but i have been using a firewire external HDD for over a year and have a feel for how long things should take, and i remember being astounded at how much longer USB was taking. As I understand it USB should be the same speed as firewire 400 if not faster.

thanks for the info!

The only eMac with USB 2.0 ports is the actual one (1.25GHz). All older eMacs only have USB 1.1 which is significantly slower (11MBit/s vs. 480MBit/s).

YOu should use Firewire for your external HD.

aaah ok. thanks guys. Good to know. Not a big deal coz I only use USBs for simple stuff.

Just that I need a new external HDD case and am finding it hard to find a firewire one; they all seem to be USB at my local comp stores.

I'll keep looking.

Know of any good online stores that ship to Australia that would have what I need? I have exhausted the possibilities of this crappy city i'm living in.
