My question pertains to a Mac Mini (Late 2014) with 3.0GHz i7, 256GB SSD, 16GB and Intel Iris Graphics. I’m currently using a Viewsonic VG2438SM 24" monitor that has a 1920x1200 (16:10) display and is connected utilizing a Mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable. The display works perfectly at 1920x1200. I’m interested in upgrading to a 27” or larger monitor, but have some concerns regarding the resolutions that the Mac Mini is capable of displaying utilizing the same Mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable. The logical upgrade would be to a 30” (16:10) WQXGA monitor with a 2560x1600 resolution, but this type of monitor is much more expensive than the more common 27” and 32” (16:9) WQHD monitors with a 2560x1440 resolution. Is the Mac Mini compatible with a 2560x1440 monitor that’s attached using a Mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable? My online research indicates that it is, but others suggest the Dual-Link DVI option. I just want to be certain before I make a monitor purchase. Thanks.
