Dismal 12" HDD Performance

Hey all,

So I have a 1.33ghz 12" PB with the standard 60gb hard disk. I recently downloaded Xbench, and did some benchmarking, and my results are fairly normal (on the good end, really) aside from my hard disk. My score for the disk test works out to 48.54, which is about half of what some of the faster powerbooks out there do. What can I do to make my disk faster? I've already updated permisssions, which seemed to help (doubled my benchmark), but aside from that I have no idea what can be done here. Any ideas?

Buy a 7200RPM hard drive for it.

But does the drive feel slow? I bet your powerbook worked just fine before you ran the test.

Worked 'fine' yeah, sure. I always forgave it for not being lightning fast since it was a laptop. But this just proves that it can be that much faster.

How full is your HD? That will effect the test.
