I tried to verify my hard drive today and I get the following error (exactly as shown) after it checks the volume information...

========================================

Volume Header needs minor repair
The volume The Volume sh HD needs to be repaired

Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit

1HFS volume checked
Volume needs repair

========================================

I can't click "Repair Disk" as the button is grayed out. I get the same error in Onyx. I've restarted the computer and ran Disk Utility again but still getting the same error.

Any ideas with this one.

My MB Pro is a couple of months old and does have the latest OS updates installed.

TIA

It's greyed out because it can't do brain surgery, so to speak, on itself. You'd have to boot the machine from the install DVD and run Disk Utility from that.

But there's an easier way. Click on this link to an earlier post that explains the simple procedure.

Thanks Bown...

After I submitted my post, I remembered exactly what you said.

I started up from the install disk, ran the Disk Utility and it solved the problem.

Thanks for the reply anyway.
