Disk Drive Noises

Im a little concerned about the disk drive on my MBP. When i insert a disk the drive makes an alarming amount of noise! It starts chugging and it sounds as if the cd is being thrown about in the drive! Is this normal? Maybe im not used to drives on laptops because i've used desktops my whole life.

Also, when im trying to install certain software the cd isn't recognised for at least 60 seconds or so. I've been trying to install Reason so when it asks for one of the cd's i insert it, it makes a lot of noise but nothing happens. At one point the whole machine locked up..

A bit concerned seeing as my MBP is no more than a couple of weeks old!

if its reading the disc, its fine.

some cd/dvd are loud, some are quiet. its because some are just not flat

i might be a little concerned, not because of the noise though, but more because of the time it takes to read the disk, usually my MBP reads the disk within seconds, although it makes a little noise, which is normal. I wouldn't make a big deal about it until something goes wrong, hopefully nothing.. but it sounds fine like kgeier said.

Ok thanks for the help. Im new to MBP's and laptops in general so im not used to the noises they make! i've tried other cd's and they're read quickly so chances are it is just a faulty cd (which is strange because i've only ever used that cd once before!)
