After 13 years of usings PC's I finally broke down and bought a new 2.16ghz black macbook. I used it for very simple use for 4 days and i just shutoff on me yesterday. I wasnt doing anything special it just made a wierd noise and shutoff. So I brought it too the nearest authorized dealers and they are fixing it, they think its the motherboard as well as the battery which would not come out of the computer when diagnosing it. I am still able to return it and go back to a pc. What should I do? to be honest my confidence in mac has fallen severely. Would you stay with a mac or go back to PC if you were me. Let me know, Im undecided.

It depends if you want to learn a new OS or not. Return and get a refund if you find it's too much of hassle, persist id you really want to give the Mac OS experience a chance. It's up to you. A bad computer can happen with any brand, it isn't only Apple but if this sways you from trying it out then go with your instinct.

hardware is hardware. occasionally it fails. could have just as easily been an HP, Dell, Toshiba, IBM, or Alienware that failed in some way.

make your decision on the experience. the OS, the interface, the software, even the repair experience. don't be biased because of a hardware failure that was covered anyway.

Hey man, I am a recent switcher myself, and let me tell ya, MACs ROCK. I understand where u coming from and all the frustration with a failed MacBook, I had the similar feeling when my Battery on my Brand New MacBook had to be changed.

But there is a lot more that weighed in on the final decision. Mac OS X is superior and ease of use can't be compared to Windows. You have great support from apple for all their products. And Its just a great Computing experience through and through.

Give it a shot for a bit longer I know u gonna love it.

Did you like OSX in the 4 days you got to use it? If so, get it fixed. Keep on them. Lemons happen with any brand from time to time.

If you really did not like OSX, then get your $$$ back and go with a PC. 4 days is not a long time but I made my decision in 1 day. After 1 day I was hooked.

There is always going to be one in a batch that will fail that is why manufacturers provide warranties to their products and this is one of those. But as the rest said ... Mac is far superior than PC ... faster, no problem with security and very user friendly. Keep to Mac ... you won't regret it.

i dont have no mac's
hardware can fail. it is a simple fact. just because it is a mac doesnt mean that every single unit they make is going to come out of the factory and work 100% and never break. if apple was doing that they would have the most efficient company in the world.

the reason you should stay with a mac is because you want to. im not going to convince you either way.

but i guarantee that if you got a busted PC you wouldnt think twice about it!!!!!!

I would not give up on OSX. That rarely happens, and of course Apple will repair or replace. I had that happen to me when I got, at the time a new G3 PowerBook. In my case it never turned on at all. In any case, it is rare.
I would also recommend the Apple Care, it will pay for itself with one repair visit.

chances are u wouldnt have even gotten 4 days out of those brands :) hehe

as far as giving up on apple, dont make that mistake. youll regret not using osx for the rest of your life, or at least for now...especially when u see vista
