Developing kernel extension: How to get kernal output in terminal?

Hello, I am developing a kernel extension, and I would like some help in debugging my extension. On Apple's website, they only give guides on debugging when you have 2 machines, one for development and one for testing. I will not be able to do this, as I only have 1 mac and do not feel like buying another when I just bought this one.

Is there anyway I can get kernel output in the terminal so I can load the extension on my local machine? Is there a way to use GDB to load the kernel extension locally instead of remotely? There is not too much information on the internet available, so I am at a loss of what to do.

Thanks for the help.
