desktop printing

i can't get desktop printing to work in 10.3.3. i went to system preferences>print & fax>set up printers, and i created a desktop printer to my epson stylus CX5200, but when i drag an appleworks document from the finder onto the icon, all it does is open the desktop printer, then it doesn't even acknowledge the print job. and just to rule these simple things out, yes i have the printer on and connected correctly. any suggestions?

Wapa18: Did you try just hitting Command- P and waiting a minute or two?

Sometimes it takes a little while for the printer to realize you're printing something. I also have an Epson (it's a Stylus C82), and sometimes it takes a few minutes to print something.
