When exporting a photo from iPhoto the default file type is JPEG (medium quality). Is there a way to change this to PNG? Couldn't find it in iPhoto preferences.

Not too computer savvy so if this involves console I'd need step-by-steps.

Open iPhoto, find the photo you want to export and select it.

Go to the File menu of iPhoto and select Export.

A dialogue box should open and you click on the Export tab. Go to Kind: and select the file type you want and PNG is one of those displayed.

And, while you're doing that, you can select the image quality from Low, Medium, High, Original according to what you want to do with the photo (low for email, maybe; to high for printing etc).

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear. I'm talking about changing the DEFAULT file type, so I don't have to keep selecting PNG from the dropdown menu.

99% of the time when I export a photo it's a PNG. PITA having the default set to JPEG.
