I've finally convinced my daughter to dump her Dell and let me get her a Macbook. What's Apple's usual way of selling off the remaining supply of previous generation Macbooks ? What kind of discounts etc?

Check the refurb store, they also have a small clearance section. Go apple.com/store and click on refurbished macs.
