cursor acting like an etch a sketch

Can anyone tell me how to permenatly fix this. my cursor when the Mac sits idle turns into a etch a sketch. How do I fix this.

Before I could begin to guess I would need a lot more information. Like mode and year of your mac. Also what version of OS X are you using? And what do you mean by Etch-a-Sketch? Is it jerky? Erasing your screen? What?

We need to know which Mac you have? If it's a notebook Mac (MacBook Pro, Air, etc) open it up and check your battery. If the battery is swollen, replace it. A swollen battery will cause the cursor and trackpad to do strange things.
