My friend said buying a Mac INSTORE is cheaper than buying it online. Does anyone know if this is true?

Also I am a current student but on a term break for summer at the moment, can I still use my student card to get a discount?

And also! Is there any offers on at the moment when buying a Mac Book Pro? I've heard of people getting iPods and Printers, etc!

I am new user to Mac and should be buying my FIRST Mac Computer, a Mac Book Pro 2.2GHz next week sometime! Switching from PC, I'm really looking forward to it!

Thanks for reading and any help I am given!

Cheaper? I don't think so...

I just bought my first macbook pro and I think that getting it online is just as cheap as buying it in the store. I did get my student discount and it came with a free ipod 4g nano. It took less that a week to receive and I am truely excited. Good luck!

Well I wouldnt go as far as that. However, I went on Vacation to London in June and was very thankful that I made a decent wage. :D

Prices are the same in-store and on-line as far as I know. I am also a college student and they will honor the discount regardless if your currently enrolled or not, they just look at your ID. At least that's what they did for me. There are certain restrictions on using the discount, check out the Apple website for info. The two major offers are the iPod and companion(printer). Both are mail-in rebates. Mine took just a little over 2 weeks to process, very quick for mail-in rebates. Congrats on your first Mac purchase, you'll enjoy it mate.

you dont have to show them your student ID to get your discount....i think they are still doing $200 off of MBP for students and $100 off of MB...plus free iPod Nano and Printer...after rebate. They lost my iPod rebate so i had to re-send it to them certified mail.....they still havent processed it...but my printer rebate has been processed....just havent received it yet.

I think the student discounts end in September. And for those of you that are not students, try to get the discount anyway.

Yeah, I forgot to mention when I bought my iMac last year, they didn't even bother to look at my student ID. But they did on my recent MacBook purchase.

Student discounts are always applicable. The iPod rebate is the only thing that ends in December. Not quite sure when the printer rebate ends... And sorry to break it to you Granny Prime but I think those rebates are only available in the US. You still qualify for the student discount though. :)

A rebate is where you purchase something and send the proof of purchase back to the company via either mail or online and they send you back money.

In the case of the iPod rebate, you can purchase any Mac with an iPod and get a rebate of $200 back. This makes the 4 gig nano essentially free. You can also upgrade to any of the other high end models and get them for $200 less.

Oh right! I dunno. I'm strapped for cash at the moment! Might try online banking tonight to see how much I have got in my account and then see if I can borrow some money else where to pay for the MBP. If it is indeed cheaper instore then that would be better! I am so looking forward to it!!

I found that calling the mac sales line allows you to get a few extras i.e a free case (up to £40) and a print/scan/copy printer for £10. Well that's the deal I got...

Wow really. What if I enquire about it INSTORE? Like "I heard there is a free iPod if you present a student discount"

"I'll just go get you one." Haha it'd be like christmas!
