Cube Problem!

just got it off craigslist.. it booted (almost once after trying to make it work for 3 hours) ...i plug it via vga into my lcd and it says no signal....when it finally does go after 3 times of restarting it
just beachballs...what do i do?

If you have an OS X disk, you can reinstall OS X.

i know someone who had similar issues with their cube, i just dont remember who it was....i think it was dtravis7 or someone from some other forum....ill ask dtravis7 bout this one for ya

Another vote for a Reinstall of OSX. The Video issue has me stumped sort of. Try starting up and hold down Command-Option-P-R all at the same time. Keep them down and listen for 2 Startup Chimes and let go. See if that solves the monitor issue. Also if the PRAM battery is dead I have seen Power Macs not get video. Check the battery. It should be 3.6 Volts but even at 3 Volts it will work.

i got it to work....the ram was all wrong inside...i took it out...put it in right and there it started right up....now the problem is the airport card...keeps telling me to restart it

tiger...amazingly fast for the 2 mins i was able to use it.....the thing keeps telling me to restart it....i did it like 10 times....i think the memory is screwed on it...so im sending it to get fixed

That is a Kernel Panic. Did it pop up a gray screen in a few languages? If so that is a KP. Usually that is Hardware and in a lot of cases Memory. It could be something in the OS though.

To add to dtravis7's post, this is what a kernel panic looks like. Kernel panics are usually due to faulty RAM but can sometimes be caused by software or other peripheral components.

i did the apple hardware test and it said it was the memory, i sent out today to some local shop told them to upgrade it to 1 Gb of memory hopefully it works.if not im gonna fly out to who ever sold me this and throw this cube through that guys bedroom window

i guess we can throw my broken down dell through his window lol and i could sell you the cube...but i bought ram not 15 secs ago ....but if i do sell...i'll make sure i sell it to you

Hope the RAM solves it for you. It should since the Hardware test found it bad.

.....I'm actually on it now.....its amazing what 1 gig can do...best part is that its in my room where there is no phone line so i couldnt put have internet before, put in the airport card from my ibook, bam full bars! my mini wont pick up in my room though....quite sad

GREAT to hear the Cube is now working.

I hear the Airport Antenna in the Mini is not the best at WiFi reception at longer distances, so what you are saying does not shock me.
