I have a macbook 13" 2.4
Just installed CS5. (photoshop, illustrator...)
when using photoshop the program runs incredibly slow. mini/bridge takes forever to load and even just opening the program takes about 45 seconds to load.
would upgrading my RAM to 8gb help this out any? Or what can I do to boost performance.

Two things I have done with CS5 - max the ram and add an external HD as a PRIMARY scratch disk when using PS. PS kills your drive and runs even slower as your drive starts to fill up.

upgrading RAM only helps if you currently run out of free space. Open the Activity Monitor (is in your Application folder -> Utilities) and select System Memory.

If you have less than something around 500mb free your system will start swapping. This is the slow down you experience.

Make sure you double check the maximum RAM you laptop supports before making the purchase!

But i have been putting that off because a MacBook Pro 2.8 is in my sights right now. I will try checking my memory. thanks for the tips guys

illustrator and photoshop are horrible with the lag. I cant even use mini bridge. the "spinning circle" just spins and spins and spins.
