Cool forum, thank God I found this. I am a big time mac fan...love them to death. But I have a Powermac Dual G4 1.25 that has been acting crazy. One day after I loaded 10.5 on it....It would freeze up all the time. I changed the memory, and then it stopped. Then started again. Now I reverted back 10.4, and it is still doing it. If I leave it on, and it goes to sleep, when I wake it..it stalls. I tried to reinstall 10.5 and then it would stall out when trying to select a boot media. i've tried different memory too...I tried 2700 512, which is in there now...and 3200 1gb. Which i took thinking it may be the problem...it will stall on anything..Even if im just surf'n the web. it will stall...Does anyone know what this could be.

If your going to run 10.5 you need all the memory you can get. 512 aint going to get it. As for why it reverted back to 10.4...thats strange. Did you do a clean install or reformat the drive first. You should not mix different memory speeds.

Well i didn't have the speeds mixed. When I was running 10.5 I was running 1 gig of 3200, but it kept stalling so I took it out, and ran the 2700 512. i started with a fresh install of tiger, and then tried to up grade and it wont let me do squat.

Did you try running the Apple Hardware Test on your machine? The stalling could also be symptoms of a bad hard drive or possibly worse. The AHT might help you localize what's causing it. See this LINK.

Regards.
