Crashing, freezing, frustrating!

Are these things related? What should I do at this point? Clean reinstall of my OS and not restore my users from time machine, start completely clean? I really don't want to do that if at all possible to save me the hours and hours of installing software and trying to restore my calendars and mailboxes and itunes, iphoto, etc... Any suggestions?
