What is this and is it serious?

Well obviously it was a GPU firmware issue. Have you installed any recent OS updates or is your OS up to date? If not I suggest updating the OS. Have you seen any graphics issues on the screen? This could just be a hick up. Hopefully you have applecare if there is an issue.

My suggestion - keep a record of this crash and monitor it. Try to notice what you were doing, what apps you were running at the time of the crash or future crashes. Did you have the MBP hooked up to an external screen which might have created a problem.

I have the same year MBP only I purchased the i5. So far, it has never crashed.
