Countdown To The Big Switch

After using Windows for my entire life, within 2 weeks time I will be switching to Mac. I am a 22 year old college student, and I really hate Vista with a passion, 1 GB of ram and its still slow? No thank you.

I've used Macs in high school on and off with success, but I never really did all my computing on one before, so this will be interesting.

I plan to visit these forums daily, to learn at first, and in time hopefully I'll make some friends and I'll be able to help others use their macs!

I'll be getting a Mac Book, 2.0Ghz, 2GB memory, and the 6xDVDR Superdrive. Two more weeks, I cant wait!

I'm in the same boat as you. When I tried out Vista and realized how much it suck, I bought myself a black Macbook. I've been a happy camper ever since :black:

Welcome to the revolution. I'm in the same boat as you, getting one soon, my first mac....can't wait. :black: And yes it is Torture, though I'm waiting for Leopard before I purchase for 2 reasons.... this will be my first brand new computer and have always been a few generations behind in technology, this way I can finally say That I have the latest and greatest. The other reason is each week I wait, I have a lil more money to get some extras. But the Torture is....yeah not fun. Though it is worth the wait.

I know, every day I check out more Mac sites and read up, I cant get enough! LOL That Vista really made me cringe. I never even liked XP, heck I'm using Windows NT right now.

Mac seemed much smoother, and you cant beat the price for the value. I mean I'm getting 2.0 GHZ, 2GB Ram, DVDR and 3 years apple care for 1500?

I'd much rather be able to bring my computer to an apple store than ship it to HP or Dell or something and lose it for weeks.

I have a million shortcuts on my desktop now, but when I get my mac I am already scared of having one lol Weird huh?

My job finally got a Vista computer in for testing, and after just playing with it for awhile (where's control panel?) I got the impression that MS is trying entirely too hard. Still with the little balloons that 'helpfully' inform you of stuff you already know about, Start menu all re-arranged, and very busy interface. For that work stuff I'll be sticking to XP, but for my own needs there is nothing better than my li'l Macbook.

Just today I had a pleasant little three-way video iChat with my brother in law and his boss, who just got new Macbooks last week. These are incredibly fun to use notebook computers aren't they?

The black MacBooks look amazing, I had the pleasure of seeing on someone had the other day. I have a white MacBook and that looks just as good, but sometimes I feel like it says something like, hey look, this guy is cheap he could have spent the extra on a black MacBook or Pro.

Is it just me or do MacBooks just look a whole lot better than when you see them in the Apple Store? Nothing really stands out in the Apple Store because everything is so beautiful. On campus they just stand out and turn heads, whether black or white. They are so refreshing from all those Dells and HPs. Even though Apple does a great job with the pictures on their website they still look a whole lot better when you first open the box..

I will stop teasing now

The thing that mainly attracts my eyes to a Macbook or Pro is just the sheer size of it. Some of my roomates have a couple Dell notebooks and one has an HP, where the battery sticks out the bottom making it uncomfortable on the lap. I don't know how they lug those things around!

I'm in the same boat man, even worse now from a patience standpoint as I just got my bonus and now have the money to just go get one now. But, I'm going to try and wait til the end of the month before I purchase. I'm crossing my fingers but not betting on Leopard being ready by then. I would like to have Leopard but if it isn't out by the end of the month, I'm pretty sure I will get my MacBook then, regardless. I don't think I could wait longer than that.

Well I really appreciate knowing that Outlook is connecting to my email server or that I just plugged in my memory stick, oh and that thing you asked me to print, well I sent it to the printer for you! (instead of the coffee machine I presume)

Anyways, Vista was part of the reason that I switched as well. I couldn't stand buying such a lame OS for so much money for very few new features. I love OS X and regret nothing
