Some time ago I bought one of these but I can't remember how to do this. There is a usb socket so I can connect it my iMac and that provides power. At the back are two line out phono sockets, left and right. I have a lead with the correct phono plugs and at the other end a mini jack plug. The jack socket on my iMac is, I believe, line out only. I seem to remember that I need Audacity to convert to mp3/4.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks for this. My Audacity was a bit out of date so I downloaded the latest version. Although there isn't a Preferences option in Edit there is in File but devices looks like this. There is no option to change anything to MME. Although I can't rename the record player I have confirmed that input is working.

I shall probably post this question separately but I noticed that in Applications there is something called Automator that I don't remember seeing before. There is no option to remove it. Do you know if it's a core part of the latest Catalina or should I worry about where it's come from.

Automator has been around for a very long time. It's also a very useful tool, if you know how to use it properly.

Automator is a core component of the OS. Been around for at least a decade, probably longer.
