Copy Photos (OS 10.10.3) to document

Just installed OS 10.10.3. Can't drag and drop a photo into a Word docx. The green circle w/ +sign appears, but the photo won't appear.

Works here, so it's something on your machine. Does Insert/Photo/Picture from file work?

Thanks, Jake - Yes, that works, but it is very round-a-bout. Also, I can drag and drop a photo to the desktop and then drag and drop it into docx. Also convoluted. A bug in my Word app?

Might be. Both ways work here, so it's something on your side. About all I can think of is that if the photo is a large file and if it's on a drive with a slow interface, it may take time to actually get loaded in to the docx. By dragging to the desktop, you have it on the internal drive and get a faster interface. But that's a really long shot answer.
