Confused

Need some help here, I going back to college this fall and I am looking to buy a new laptop. I really want a MacBook but all I know is PC. I have read through a lot of the post on this site and have learned a lot. I just need a little more convincing.

Most important to me is my Pocket PC and Outlook. I am very organized and couldn’t function with them. I’m not tied to Outlook per say but need the capability to put everything in a calendar and sync it with my Pocket PC. Is that an option with a Mac?

Also for school I know I’m going to need Office. I’m having a hard time justifying a Mac and Office 08 when I can get a nice PC and Office 07 for a less.

OS X has iCal with it, and a sync mechanism. You just need to check if your Pocket PC would be compatible or not. Also, you can look into some of the free Office suites out there (like Open Office), that are pretty nice replacements, depending what you do in MS Office.

Plus, as a student you get an educational discount, although I don't know what that exactly is percentagewise.

Price seems to be the clincher for you

To get an apple to do all that you will need a Macbook, Office for Mac and The Missing Sync to get the Mac to Talk to that POcket PC

You should check out the refurbs on the Apple store, they are as good as new (if not better) and you could save a lot (maybe even more than your education discount)

It all depends how much you can save on a refurb, current Macbooks go for around $1000 but keep checking

hmm just wondering.. does an iTouch have iCal and is syncable w/ a computer? sorry for the threadjack.. just came to mind.

Ya, the ipod touch has a calendar feature that will sync with ical, outlook and I believe windows calendar.
