Hi everyone. I'm pretty new to macs so please have patience with me. Here's the story: The HDD in my friend's mac book pro died. So she brought it to my other friend who installed a new HDD and Ubuntu. She didn't like Ubuntu and wants the macos back on it. So my friend has given the mac book to me to do the task. I don't have access to a mac computer to make a bootable drive with yosemite. I was able to torrent a copy of yosemite since I wasn't able to download it from apple directly. I only have a windows 7 computer.

My question: Is there a way to make an 8GB USB drive bootable for mac with yosemite on it? If not, is there an alternative way to do this?

Just to confirm, should the file extension for the yosemite file be .dmg?

Thanks in advance.

We do not discuss torrent downloads in our forums. If you really need a legal copy of Yosemite, you can go to your nearest Apple Store and have them download a copy for you. Of course you must own a Mac not a Windows 7 PC. Sorry we can't help you with anything until you obtain a legal copy of Yosemite. Come back then for advice. This thread is now closed.
