Clean Optical Drive with Benzine where to buy UK

Hi,

I am having some trouble burning CD/DVD's and my Macbook Pro will not recognise some Mp3 disks.

I an going to remove my drive and clean it after reading an article about removing and cleaning
my drive after reading an other thread on this excellent site.

The problem is where can I buy Benzine or pure alchol in the UK?
When I went into the chemist he looked at me as if I was a terrorist!!!! he told me that you can't buy either from shops in the UK or does anyone know of anything else that I can use to clean the drive that I can buy from Boots?

PS I look like a musician not a terrorist!!!!

Try again, but this time ask for isopropyl alcohol and explain what you want it for.

You should be able to get %90 Isopropyl Alcohol from most drug stores or supermarkets. If you want to remove the rest of the water from that, buy a block of dry ice (or dry ice cubes if possible), break the block into pieces slightly bigger than a six sided die, and put them into the Isopropyl Alcohol. The Alcohol should be in a large bowl so you can remove the cubes easily. Once the cubes are in there wait for the water to freeze around them (the alcohol will not freeze) and take the cubes out once there is a thick layer of ice around them. Doing this can significantly purify your %90 Isopropyl Alcohol to use on electronics.
