CLANK sound on 8600 startup?

I recently bought an 8600/200 Mac and used it for about 5 months.

It now gives me a "CLANK" sound when I try to start it up.

I tried using the apple+option+shift+delete to boot from an external Jaz drive in which I had the OS (8.6) installed, but got the same results.

Is it a bad board or bad battery or something else?

Any sound other than the start up cord, is a hardware problem. Normally the sound will tell what to look at.
