Hi all im fairly new to the mac scene so please bare with me.
We have a Citizen CLP521 thermal printer that is installed fine on the mac via the CUPS driver. It works ok with our courier's website (DPD) and is installed and runs via Java runtime. But we want to use the printer from another source other than the DPD website and this is where the problems begin. It is not possible to print to the printer from 2 different palces ie 2 different browsers etc it simply wont work. The CLP521 printer installs itself as CLP521Z if we want to use it from anywhere other than the DPD website. And so 2 printers appear in the Scan/Print menu. CLP521 and CLP521Z. We have managed to print to CLP521Z which then stops the CLP521 from working. Using one will send an a print job error and turn the printer offline. The only way to resolve is to delete CLP521Z and start over.
We tried also to install the printer to the PC side of the Mac running parallels but this causes conflict also. All we want to do is use the same printer to print from either a differnt web application or a pdf viewer or a different browser, but nothing we have tried will work.
We have investigated other thermal printers and there doesnt seem to be any manufacturer support on the drivers for the mac they all seem to use CUPS.
Hopefully someone can help?
